The southern and western lines injected water to the system in order to service the capital city.
The construction of two new lines of water drinking (South and West) which will feed the pipeline of the capital, the supply of the service for the next 20 years, said the director of the Institute of National Aqueducts and Sewage (IDAAN) Juan Antonio Ducruet.
The southern boundary, which leaves Tinajitas and through the city to reach the East Coast, and tendered at a cost of $ 15 million, but is awaiting endorsement by the Comptroller. This will inject water into the pipe system to enhance the service in those areas of the city where today there is no water or low pressure, said Ducruet.
As part of the project to construct a quarter tank of 10 million gallons of water near a hill Patacón.
The line of the West has not yet been tendered and will have a similar cost. According to the planning, follow the same course of the North Corridor up to Bella Vista.
Infrastructure in the city IDAAN compose a mother and a parallel line that lead to 250 million gallons of drinking water produced by the plant daily to Chilibre Tinajitas two tanks with a capacity for 10 million gallons each. There is also the line that leads east for Tocumen water tank and a reserve of 10 million gallons located in Ameglio hill.
Despite Ducruet and his team saw the solution in these two new lines, the former director of IDAAN José Fierro said that this “will not solve the problem.” According to Fierro, who was director of IDAAN three times, is required to expand the capacity of distribution lines, as in many parts of the city, like San Francisco, changed the zoning to build buildings. While living in a residence in Paitilla, Fierro said that “no water 24 hours a day, every time you have to swim more glued to the wall, because the jet is smaller.”
